October 16, 2012:  FVAP Files Its First Brief in Court of Appeal

Only 4 months after opening our doors, FVAP has filed its first brief in the Fourth District Court of Appeal in San Diego.  FVAP is the lead amicus party on an amicus brief joined by 11 other legal aid and domestic violence nonprofits and co-counseled by Hanson Bridgett.  In the case, the trial court denied a restraining order to a victim of two sexual assaults because there had been a brief period of peace while a temporary restraining order was in place.  FVAP argued that lifting the court-ordered protection places the victim and her children – who witnessed some of the abuse – in danger and was legally incorrect.
